Reflection #22: 22 Reflections on 22 Years of Singleness

Well friends, it’s time for my 22nd and final reflection in this series. For those who followed along, thank you for allowing me to share my heart and the truths that continue to encourage my soul.

When I woke up and opened the living room blinds to let in a bit of morning sun, I felt prompted to thank the Lord for the gift of turning 40.

God has sustained my physical life for 40 years, and he has sustained my faith in Christ for 30 years. I never want to overlook the miracle of being alive and still following Jesus, regardless of my age.

My inspiration for writing this series of reflections was my determination not to allow age and singleness define my life. I want to enter this next decade with confidence, creativity, quirkiness, and most of all hope in Christ.

A line from Disney’s Carousel of Progress comes to mind (for those familiar with the now deceased attraction):

“There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of everyday.”

Not everyday will be great, big, or beautiful in this life, but everyday is leading somewhere far greater, far bigger, far more beautiful, and far more eternal than any disappointment, pain, or grief we experience.

My goals for this year and this decade are simple: live, laugh, and love.

Live for Christ
Laugh as much as possible
Love animal print… and by extension, all of the things that make me feel eccentrically myself.

Everyone is encouraged to join me (all ages and life seasons are welcome). 💕

“’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.” -John Newton
